Trends
The Trends monitor compares internet searches with the site's archive. The filters, the metrics, the coverage statuses, and the topic panel.
Updated on
Monitor de tendências (trends monitor) is the only screen in the dashboard that compares external data with the site's archive. It shows what is being searched for on the internet and how much of it the site has already published. The screen subtitle sums up the purpose: "Veja o que está em alta na internet e compare com o que seu portal já publicou. Encontre oportunidades." (see what is trending on the internet and compare it with what your site has already published; find opportunities). The Exportar (export) and Compartilhar (share) buttons sit in the upper right corner.
Filters
The screen has four filters at the top: Região (region), with the Brasil (Brazil) default; Período (period), with Últimas 24 horas (last 24 hours); Categoria (category), with Todas (all); and GAP, with Qualquer status (any status). The GAP filter selects topics by coverage status.
Metrics
| Metric | Caption on the screen |
|---|---|
| Em alta agora (trending now) | Tópicos com crescimento acima de 50% (topics growing more than 50%) |
| Oportunidades encontradas (opportunities found) | Temas que você ainda não cobriu (subjects you have not covered yet) |
| Cobertura geral (overall coverage) | Quanto do que é buscado você já publicou (how much of what is searched for you have already published) |
| Maior lacuna (biggest gap) | Tema mais buscado sem matéria publicada (most-searched subject without a published article) |
Maior lacuna shows the name of a topic instead of a number. It is the only metric in the dashboard whose value is text.
Topic table
The Tendências × sua redação (trends vs. your newsroom) table has its own search and the columns #, Tópico (topic), with name and category, Vol., Variação (change), Interesse (interest), a trend line, Matérias (articles), Última (latest), Views médios (average views), and Status.
| Status | Color | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Coberto (covered) | green | The volume of articles keeps up with demand |
| Parcial (partial) | amber | There are articles, but few or old |
| Oportunidade (opportunity) | purple | Demand is growing and coverage is minimal |
| Sem cobertura (no coverage) | red | No article; the Última and Views médios columns stay empty |
Topic panel
When you select a row, the right column shows the topic panel, with the category label, the Atualizado · Últimas 24 horas (updated, last 24 hours) indication, and the topic name. The panel has three blocks: Evolução do interesse (interest over time), an area chart with the axis in hours; Distribuição por editoria (distribution by section), vertical bars with the sections in which the site covered the subject; and Matérias publicadas (published articles), a list with title, section, pageviews, and age.
The Distribuição por editoria block shows whether a covered subject was handled by the expected sections.
Trends and Pulse
The two screens present opportunities with different units. In Trends, the unit is the topic searched for on the internet, and the question is what is missing. In Pulse, the unit is the article in the archive, and the question is what to do with content that already exists.
