Pulse strategies

Revival, Orbit, Bridge, Erosion, and Blueprint are the five strategies behind Pulse cards. The signal that triggers each and what the action plan asks for.

Updated on

Each Pulse card belongs to one of five strategies, identified by a label and available as a filter in the queue. The names appear in English on the screen, and this documentation keeps them. Knowing the strategy speeds up the diagnosis: the label indicates the type of problem before the dialog is opened.

StrategyWhat it detectsExample of raw signal
RevivalAn older article is receiving searches again"Tráfego orgânico subiu 240% nas últimas 48h." (organic traffic rose 240% in the last 48 h)
OrbitA predictable seasonal event is approaching"Aumento histórico de busca começa em 9 dias." (the historical rise in searches starts in 9 days)
BridgeEngaged readers leave without a next step"Alto tempo de leitura (3m), mas 78% de saída." (high reading time, 3 min, but a 78% exit rate)
ErosionThe article is losing its ranking position on Google"Caiu da posição #2 para #7 no Google." (dropped from position #2 to #7 on Google)
BlueprintA content format repeats among the most-read articles"Formato Guia tem 2,3x mais retenção em Serviço." (the Guide format has 2.3x more retention in Service)

Revival

The signal is growth in organic search on an article published some time ago. The action plan usually includes updating dates, titles, and links, plus a new promo on the homepage. The demand already exists, and the work consists of updating the content that receives it.

Orbit

The signal comes from search history: in the same period of the previous year, searches for the subject grew. The card arrives before the peak, with the number of days remaining. The action plan is to plan the coverage in advance, so the article is published when searches begin.

Bridge

The signal combines high reading time with a high exit rate. The reader reads the text to the end and finds no next step. The action plan includes internal links at the end of the text and a block of related articles. It is the strategy that acts on recirculation.

Erosion

The signal is a drop in ranking position on Google for the article's main term. The action plan usually includes reviewing the title and subheadings and updating the content.

Blueprint

It is the only strategy that is not about a single article. It compares formats and identifies a pattern that repeats among the most-read articles. The action plan is to turn the format into a content template.

The Trends screen also presents opportunities, but with a different unit: the topic searched for on the internet, not the article in the archive. A subject that has not been covered yet appears in Trends; an article that already exists and needs action appears in Pulse.
